Mount Bursik

Mount Bursik is the main peak of the Soholt Peaks in the Heritage Range , the southern part of the Antarctic Ellsworth Mountains . At 2500  m , it is the highest peak in the Heritage Range.

Mount Bursik was mapped by the United States Geological Survey as part of the survey of the Ellsworth Mountains in 1961-66 through field surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain in 1966 after Captain Vlada Don Bursik (1918–1973) of the United States Navy. In 1966 Bursik was Deputy Commander of the naval units that were deployed in support of Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica.
