Mount Egbert is a 2895 m high and mostly icy mountain on the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . In the Douglas Range it rises 13 km south-southeast of Mount Stephenson .
The mountain was first sighted in 1909 during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908–1910) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . In 1936, participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill made a survey. The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey repeated this in 1948 and named the mountain after Egbert von Wessex († 839), King of Wessex from 802 to 839.
