Mount Faraway (from English faraway , 'far away' ) is an approximately 1175 m high, striking and snow-covered mountain in the East Antarctic Coatsland . It marks the southern foothills of the Theron Mountains in the Transantarctic Mountains .
Participants of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) under the direction of the British polar explorer Vivian Fuchs discovered it in 1956. It owes its name to the fact that the expedition members found the dog sledding to him endless.
