Mount Griffith is a massive, 3,095 m high mountain in Marie-Byrd-Land . It projects 6 km north-northeast of Mount Vaughan in the Queen Maud Mountains belonging Hays Mountains on.
It was first sighted and roughly mapped in December 1929 by the team led by geologist Laurence McKinley Gould (1896-1995) on the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928-1930). The group around the geologist Quin Blackburn (1900-1981) carried out a survey during Byrd's second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) in December 1934. Expedition leader Richard Evelyn Byrd named him after the film producer Raymond Griffith (1895-1957) of the 20th Century Fox , who helped with the selection and compilation of film material about Byrd's research trips.
