Mount Hawea is a 3080 m high mountain in the Ross Dependency of Antarctica . In the Frigate Range of the Queen Elizabeth Range, it rises 6 km east of Mount Markham .
The northern group of a campaign carried out from 1961 to 1962 as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition named it after the HMNZS Hawea , a frigate of the Royal New Zealand Navy that was used in the Antarctic patrol service.
