Mount Hemphill is a 1,800 m high and snow-capped mountain in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises in the southern part of the Anare Mountains between the head ends of the McLean Glacier and the Ebbe Glacier .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using aerial photographs of the United States Navy from the years of 1960 and 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 1964 after Lieutenant Harold S. Hemphill, Officer for aerial photography in the squadron VX-6 in Antarctica between 1962 and 1963 and between 1963 and 1964.
