The Mount Hicks , also Saint David's Dome called, is a mountain in the Southern Alps in Mount Cook National Park on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The mountain has a height of 3216 m and is located above the Hooker Glacier near the Aoraki / Mount Cook . The starting point for an ascent is the Empress Hut . Several combined climbs lead through the south face of Mount Hicks , including the Dingle-Button route.
First ascents
The climbers H. E: Newton , RS Low and Alex Graham were the first to climb the mountain on February 9, 1906. Bill Denz and Al Jones were the first climbers to conquer the mountain in winter in 1972.
