Mount Hiroe (from Japanese 広 江山 Hiroe-yama , German 'Breitbuchtberg' ) is a 316 m high mountain on the Prince Harald Coast in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It rises 800 m northwest of Breidvågnipa and 2.1 km northeast of Hiroe Point .
The Norwegian cartographer Hans E. Hansen mapped the mountain using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . The name was given in 1973 by the headquarters of Japanese Antarctic Research after exploration of the area by Japanese researchers. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred this designation in 1975 in a partial translation into English.
