The Mount Morrison is the Sherwin Range , part of the Sierra Nevada in the State of California . The mountain rises south of Convict Lake .
The first ascent was in 1927 by Norman Clyde , a recognized mountaineer and photographer.
History of naming
The mountain is named after Sheriff Robert Morrison, who was killed by a gang of convicts near Convict Lake on September 23, 1871.
