At 1910 m, Mount Rigel is the highest mountain in the Orion massif near the Rymill coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1976 after Rigel , the brightest star in the constellation Orion .
