Mount Trail is a mountain on the coast of the East Antarctic Enderbyland . At the head of the Amundsen Bay it rises on the northeast flank of the Auster Glacier .
Aerial photographs of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions were used for mapping in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the Australian geologist David Scott Trail (* 1931), who worked at Mawson Station in 1961 .
