Mount Tricouni is a striking 1630 m high mountain in East Antarctica Victoria Land . It rises steeply 3 km north of Hobnail Peak on the eastern flank of the Skelton Glacier .
It was mapped and named in 1957 by the New Zealand crew of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958). It is named after its resemblance to a Tricouni fitting on the soles of mountain boots .
