Mount Van Valkenburg is a 1165 m high mountain in Marie Byrd Land in western Antarctica . It rises about 2 km south of Mount Burnham in the Clark Mountains belonging to the Ford Ranges .
Participants of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) discovered him during overflights from West Base . The mountain is named after Samuel Van Valkenburg (1891-1976), director of the School of Geography at Clark University in Worcester , Massachusetts .
