Mount Van der Essen ( French Mont Van der Essen ) is a 2525 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises just south of Mount Gillet in the Belgica Mountains .
Participants in the Belgian Antarctic Expedition in 1957/58 under Gaston de Gerlache de Gomery (1919-2006) discovered him. It is named after Alfred Van der Essen (1914–2005), Ministerial Director in the Belgian Foreign Ministry and sponsor of the research trip.
