Mount Ward is a 800 m high mountain on the Rymill Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . In the south of the Batterbee Mountains it rises at the northeast end of the Steeple Peaks .
It was discovered, named, but mapped in the wrong position during an overflight on December 23, 1947 on the US Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition . Namesake is Wendell Wadsworth Ward (1894-1978), editor of the Beaumont Journal and sponsor of the expedition led by the US polar explorer Finn Ronne .
