Mountainman is an ultramarathon in Switzerland and leads from the Trüebsee to the Pilatus .

First held at the end of August 2010 - since then always at the same time of year - by the BergArena association, it is the most demanding mountain marathon in Switzerland with a route length of over 80 kilometers and around 5000 meters in altitude and is one of the most demanding in Europe.

route

With a few exceptions, the entire route runs on existing nature trails. The start is at the Trüebsee at the foot of the Titlis. The first ascent to the Jochpass follows about one kilometer. Then over the Tannalp to the Balmeregghorn and from there to the Bernese Oberland to the Planplatten. Continue via Käserstatt to Gibel and from there down to the lowest point on the Brünig Pass , followed by the steepest climb up to Lungern-Schönbüel . Continue through 30 km of moorland and to the final ascent towards Pilatus Kulm.

Alternative competitions

There is also the option of doing the route on a shortened route or as a team:

  • Mountainman Marathon : later entry, thus 42.195 km and 2561 vertical meters
  • Mountainman Marathon 2x2: the shortened route for two
  • Mountainman Ultra 2x2 : the ultra route for two
  • Mountainman Ultra 4x4 : the Ultra route for four

Regulations

The regulations were based on the regulations of the Ultra-Trail Du Mont-Blanc . There is a separate ethic and the regulation that mandatory equipment (emergency bandage, plaster, long top and long trousers, mobile phone) is to be worn over the entire route.

statistics

Due to small adjustments to the route, the times are only partially comparable.
