Mourad Meghni (born April 16, 1984 in Paris ) is a former French - Algerian football player .
Club career
The attacking midfielder began playing football at Clairefontaine . At the age of 16 he moved to Italy for FC Bologna , but was also courted by larger clubs such as Manchester United and AC Milan . In Bologna he played in the U-17 team and promptly won the Allevi youth championship .
But this positive start was soon followed by the first uncertainty. Bologna's player observer, who had gathered Mourad Meghni and other young players around him, was dismissed and the footballers he had signed had to leave the club.
He was about to sign with English club Fulham when he was finally offered a contract extension until 2007.
It was only in his third year at FC Bologna that he was accepted into the first team. At the age of just 18, he scored two goals in his first season there, one of them against AC Milan. But it wasn't just going well for the so-called little Zidane , who was at times considered one of the greatest talents in his position. Often he was too playful and missed certain scoring opportunities. But his coach Carlo Mazzone , who had already led Francesco Totti into Serie A , worked a lot with the youngster and he developed promisingly.
In the 2005/06 season, FC Sochaux was able to secure the services of the French for a year and loaned him from FC Bologna. In 2007 Meghni moved to Lazio Rome .
On June 10, 2011 it was announced that his contract had been terminated by mutual agreement. He then joined the Umm-Salal SC from Qatar . In the meantime he was awarded three months from there to the al-Khor SC and in July 2012 handed over entirely to Lekhwiya SC .
After his contract expired in 2013, Meghni paused for two years and joined CS Constantine in his home country . He ended his active career there in 2017.
National team
Meghni played a total of seven times for the France U-21s .
On August 12, 2009 he made his international debut for Algeria against Uruguay . He played a total of nine games and took part in the 2010 Africa Cup .
