His professor Keizō Itsuki ( 樹 慶 蔵 ) had already learned about Sawaki from his father. He is therefore very interested in his skills and wants to promote Sawaki. Sawaki doesn't believe his assistant Haruka Hasegawa ( 長谷川 遥 ) at first, but is soon convinced by him.

reception

The manga was awarded the Grand Prize of the Osamu Tezuka Culture Prize in 2008 . The volumes sold over 250,000 copies each in Japan.

Tatsuya Seto writes in 1001 Comics that the manga offers an "extremely cleverly conceived and entertaining journey into the world of the invisible" . The plot revolves mainly around the everyday life of the students, but Sawaki's special abilities also convey a lot of information about microorganisms and special food cultures. While the normal world is kept in a detailed naturalistic style, the world of microbes is designed like a “children's room full of bizarre cartoon characters” .
