Polysics is a Japanese J-Rock / J-Pop / Punkrock / Noise-Rock / Synthie-Pop band from Tokyo , which describes its style as "technicolor pogo punk".

The band was formed in 1997, but had their breakthrough in 1998 at a concert in Tokyo. Their fast music is characterized by the mixture of conventional guitar music with synthesizer and computer generated noises and appears to be strongly influenced by American bands such as Devo and The Tubes .

At the beginning of 2010, Kayo left the band after 12 years.

Her lyrics often consist of Japanese , broken English or just gibberish . The band is known for their excessive live performances as well as their unusual outfits.

The name of the band is derived from the " Korg Polysix ", which was the first synthesizer of the front man Hiroyuki Hayashi. He liked the instrument so much that he wanted to use its name as the band name. However, since they were not 6 people together, he changed the "Polysix" to "Polysics".
