Muchinga Mountains

The South African Muchinga Mountains are narrow, but at 700 kilometers quite elongated mountain range in the east or northeast of Zambia . The mountain range is named after the Muchinga province in which it is located.

According to various reports, the mountains rise up to about 150 to 200 km southeast of Lake Bangweulus and the Bangweulus swamps bordering them up to 2164 m high. It forms part of the watershed between the river systems of the Congo and the Zambezi .

Biggest rivers

In the Muchinga Mountains themselves only small streams and rivers flow , which later flow into the rivers that run parallel to the mountains from northeast to southwest - the Chambeshi and the Luangwa .
