The Muckenkogel ( 1248 m above sea level ) is a mountain in the Gutenstein Alps in Lower Austria .
The Muckenkogel is located near Lilienfeld and is therefore also the local mountain of the Lilienfelds. He belongs to the Reisalpe – Hegerberg group. At its highest point there is a transmitter that can be seen from afar.
On March 19, 1905, the first gate run in ski history took place on the Muckenkogel, a race organized by Mathias Zdarsky in which 24 drivers took part. It was about the comparison between the alpine skiing technique and the Norwegian technique.
In 1964 a single chair lift was opened from Fallgraben to Muckenkogel. It is now the last single chairlift in Lower Austria that is still in operation.
