The Mudyug ( Russian Мудьюг , German transcription: Mudjug) is a Russian icebreaker that was built in 1982 at the Wärtsilä shipyard in Helsinki, Finland, as hull number 436. The ship was originally 88.5 meters long and 20 meters wide. The displacement was 6,211 tons.

In 1987 it was rebuilt and extended in Emden and was given a Thyssen Waas bow with particularly good ice breaking properties. The new icebreaking technology with the patented Thyssen-Waas-Bug was first used and successfully tested on the German icebreaker Max Waldeck .
