Muinuddin Chishti or Muinaddin Tschishti ( Persian معین‌الدین چشتی; born 1141 in Sistan ; died in 1230 in Ajmer , India ), also known as Gharib Nawaz , a Muslim mystic ( Sufi ) and the most famous sheikh of Tschischtiyya - Order in South Asia . His tomb ( dargah ) is in Ajmer and is still one of the most important Islamic pilgrimage sites in India. At the time of the Mughal Empire , he was the patron saint of the ruling house and the empire. The emperors made pilgrimages to his grave on foot and built mosques there.
