The Mukluk Lookout is a 600 m high rock pulpit in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . In the Prince Charles Mountains , it is on the north side of Mount Rubin .
Aerial photos of the mountain were taken during an overflight as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions in 1960. The pulpit was the location of a geodetic station when surveying the Prince Charles Mountains in 1972. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it so in 1973 because the rough rocks in this area damaged the Eskimo boots ( mukluks ) of the geologists involved in the survey .
