The Mount Rubin is a large, 1,560 m high and gently domed mountain with a line extending to the east moraine in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . It rises 16 miles west-northwest of the Cumpston Massif in the Prince Charles Mountains .
Aerial photos of the mountain were taken during an overflight as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (1956–1958). The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) named him after the American meteorologist Morton Joseph Rubin (1917-2004), who worked as an exchange scientist in 1958 on the Soviet Mirny Station and from 1973 to 1974 the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names belonged to.
