Multimedia over Coax Alliance

The Multimedia over Coax Alliance ( MoCA ) is a manufacturer's association and a standard of the same name created by it for broadband data transmission in home networks via existing coaxial cables .

MoCA was founded in 2004 and comprises over 100 manufacturers, including AT&T , Broadcom , Freescale , Infineon , Intel , LG , Linksys , Motorola , Netgear , Panasonic , Samsung , STMicro , Texas Instruments and Verizon . Version 1.0 of the physical layer was adopted in February 2006.

MoCA has been a recommendation of the Digital Living Network Alliance since 2009 .

On June 15, 2010, MoCA 2.0 was ratified, which can deliver net throughputs of up to one gigabit / second with various modes. - The "Basic" mode processes up to 400 Mbit / s (700 gross) or 500 in point-to-point operation, the "Enhanced" mode up to 800 Mbit / s (1,400 gross) or 1 Gbit / s Point to point.
