Mundo Aborigen ( Spanish for "world of the natives") is the name of an archaeological open-air museum in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana on the island of Gran Canaria in the Spanish province of Las Palmas . The museum, opened in June 1994, is located in the Ayagaures Natural Park, about 11 km north of Playa del Inglés on the road to Fatage ( Carretera Fataga ; GC-60 / GC-520). It offers insights into a Canarios village community before the Spanish conquered the Canary Islands . On an area of around 110,000 m², in faithfully reconstructed buildings with more than 100 life-size figures and some with live animals, scenes from the everyday life of the islanders of that time are depicted. The facility is accessible in the form of a circular path. Multilingual boards with background information can be found at each station. The three-dimensional representations, some of which are underlaid with acoustic effects, include, among other things, the subjects of agriculture and livestock, sport, handicrafts, medicine, the judiciary and methods of execution of the old Canary Islands. There is a small exhibition of archaeological artifacts in an attached building .
