Vicente Guerrero is a municipality in the southwest of the Mexican state Durango . The municipality of Vicente Guerrero has about 21,000 inhabitants and an area of ​​370.6 km². The administrative seat and largest town of the municipality is the eponymous Vicente Guerrero .

geography

The municipality of Vicente Guerrero is located in the southeast of the state of Durango at an altitude between 1800  m and 2800  m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Sierra Madre Occidental and the hydrological region Presidio-San Pedro . The geology of the municipality is made up of alluviums (39%), conglomerates (36%), rhyolite tuffs (15%) and limestone (7%); Soil type of 35% of the municipality is the Kastanozem , followed by 31% Leptosol and 19% Chernozem . Almost 49% of the community area is used for arable farming, almost 58% as pasture.

The municipality of Pueblo Nuevo borders on the municipalities of Nombre de Dios , Poanas and Súchil, as well as the state of Zacatecas .

In the 2010 census, 21,117 people in 5,445 residential units were counted in the municipality. Of these, 166 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , including 95 speakers of the Tepehuano de Durango . About 3.8% of the population were illiterate. 7,978 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which approx. 71% were men or 7.4% were unemployed. About 11.6% of the population lived in extreme poverty.
