Muqschin ( Arabic مقشن, DMG Muqšin ) is a village and an administrative district ( Wilaya ) in the Dhofar Governorate in south-western Oman .

history

Some very old archaeological finds (housing developments, tools and inscriptions) dating back to the Stone Age have been discovered in the Muqshin County.

Geography / location / traffic connections

The place is located inland in the middle of the Rub al-Chali desert near the well-developed road from Muscat to Salala, which was completed in 1980 . It is 344 km to Salalah.

Demographics

According to official information, the population in the administrative district of Muqschin grew by an average of 5.1% annually between 2003 and 2008, with the CAGR of the proportion of residents increasing by 2.2% and the CAGR of the proportion of foreigners increasing by 10.0%. economy

The population in the administrative district of Muqschin live mainly from agriculture (mainly from pasture farming and palm plantations ) and cattle breeding ( dromedaries ). In addition, they produce leather and palm frond products . Although the groundwater is abundant, the natural vegetation is very sparse.
