Murat Kurum

Murat Kurum (* 1976 in Ankara ) is a Turkish engineer and has been Turkey's Minister of Environment and Urban Planning since July 2018.

Life

After completing school in Ankara, Kurum studied civil engineering at Selçuk Üniversitesi , which he graduated in 1999. Before he took up his post at the State Housing Authority (TOKİ ), he worked in various construction sectors as a site manager, engineer and coordinator. At TOKİ he was initially employed as an expert in Ankara from 2005 to 2006 and in the following three years as director of the Istanbul department (responsible for the European side of the city). From 2009 Kurum worked for the Prime Minister's TOKİ department as General Director and Board Member and became Minister in President Erdoğan's cabinet on July 9, 2018 .

Kurum is married and has three children.
