Murdeira is a young settlement on the island of Sal in the Republic of Cape Verde .

The village is located about 6 km south of the island's capital Espargos and thus about halfway between Espargos and the tourist center of Santa Maria . Until shortly before the turn of the millennium, only a few people lived in this place. These lived mainly from agriculture. With the emergence of tourism on the island, however, the need for tourist attractions grew.

Murdeira is located on the west coast of the island on the spacious Baía da Murdeira, which gives it its name . Within this elongated bay there is another small naturally created bay approximately in the shape of a semicircle. The interior of this small bay is protected from the usual strong waves of the Atlantic , making it an ideal bathing resort. As a result, Murdeira emerged as a leisure settlement, which mainly consists of apartment apartments and hotels with bars and restaurants. Residents of one of the apartments Murdeira are entitled to free use of the swimming pool, which was built in the village. A tennis facility is planned as a further offer for the future. The Baía da Murderia is also designated as a marine reserve and rich in fish species. A diving school , which is equipped with a decompression chamber , was therefore located in the place . As there were too few customers in the area, this moved to Santa Maria.
