The Murphy Rocks are up to 660  m high ledges in the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . In the Ford Ranges they rise 19 km southeast of Mount West on a wide and icy ridge between the Hammond and Boyd glaciers .

Mapping was carried out on the basis of surveys by the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) as well as by the United States Geological Survey and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named this formation after Dion M Murphy, aircraft mechanic and crew member aboard helicopters in Operation Deep Freeze in 1968.
