The Murphy Valley is one of the Antarctic dry valleys in East Antarctic Victoria Land . The high valley is located on the northeast side of Mount Booth in the eastern section of the Olympus Range . To the north it opens to the Victoria Valley .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 2004 after the American mapping engineer Kenneth W. Murphy Jr. of the United States Geological Survey , who was part of the satellite-assisted survey team at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station during the Antarctic winter campaigns of 1981 and 1987 .
