The Musée des Beaux-Arts (German: Museum of Fine Arts) in Bernay , a French commune in the Eure in the region of Normandy , was set up. 1866 The museum is right next to the Notre-Dame de Bernay church on Place Guillaume-de-Volpiano.

History and collections

The museum was founded on the occasion of a faience exhibition in 1866. Since 1891 it has been in a former building of the Notre-Dame Abbey, which is protected as a Monument historique . Its collections consist mainly of faience from the 16th century, furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries. Century and sculptures and paintings from the 16th to 19th centuries. There are also some exhibits of modern and religious art.

The focus is on works by the sculptor Albert Miserey (1862–1938) and the painters Victor Valtat (1875–1963) and André Mare (1885–1932).
