The Muschketow Glacier ( Russian Ледник Мушкетова Lednik Muschketowa , Norwegian Mushketovbreen ) is a 70 km long and 60 km wide glacier flowing northeast in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It drains the area between the Wohlthat massif in the east and the Weyprecht mountains to the west , the Payer group and the Lomonossow mountains .
It was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939) under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Soviet scientists, who also made the name, repeated this on an expedition that lasted from 1958 to 1959. It is named after the Russian geologist and geographer Ivan Muschketow (1850–1902).
