The Museum of Ukrainian Culture ( Slovak Múzeum kultúry ukrajinskej ) is a folklore museum in the Slovak town of Svidník . It is the oldest national museum in Slovakia.
exhibition
The museum documents the cultural and historical development of the Ukrainian - Ruthenian population of Slovakia from the 16th century to the present on an area of 1700 m² . The main exhibition of the museum is the cultural-historical exhibition. In addition, the flora and fauna of the Carpathian nature, which was one of the main factors for the general way of life and the socio-economic development of the area, is presented. An attached open-air museum with a comprehensive ethnographic exhibition and the Dezider Milly gallery complete the museum's offerings.
history
The museum, founded in Prešov in 1956 , moved to its present location in the town of Svidník in 1964. The Dezider Milly gallery is housed in a listed, baroque mansion from the 18th century.
