The Museum of Modern Art ( Azerbaijani Müasir İncəsənət Muzeyi (MIM) ) is a museum founded in Baku , Azerbaijan in 2009 , especially for modern and contemporary Azerbaijani art.

history

The museum was opened on March 20, 2009 in the presence of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev and the General Director of UNESCO Kōichirō Matsuura .

concept

In the museum there are over 800 works by Azerbaijani painters and sculptors, who mainly work in the avant-garde style . The museum also has a children's art room, library, video room, restaurant and art cafe.

collection

In addition to some classic representatives of modernity from private collections such as Salvador Dali , Pablo Picasso , especially the Russian avant-garde , such as Marc Chagall and Wassily Kandinsky , works of are Səttar Bəhlulzadə , Böyükağa Mirzəzadə , Elmira Şahtaxtinskaya , Tahir Salahov , Ömər Eldarov or Nadir Əbdurrəhmanov shown.
