Music Station ( Japanese ミ ュ ー ジ ッ ク ス テ ー シ ョ ン ) is a Japanese music show that is broadcast on Fridays between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. (local time) on TV Asahi . The show is also known by the abbreviation MSta ( Japanese M ス テ ).
information
Music Station was developed as the Japanese counterpart to the British Top of the Pops back in the 1980s . It was first broadcast on October 24, 1986 . Since then, the program has had not only many national artists, some of whom made their debut at MSta, but also well-known international musicians, such as B. Shakira , Beyoncé or the Red Hot Chili Peppers are guests. Since March 2007, MusicStation of Animax in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong , Taiwan and as other Asian countries.
The Japanese comedian Tamori , whose trademark is his dark sunglasses , has been moderating the film since 1989 . After the introduction of the guests, they take a seat together with the moderators on a small grandstand. All the stars are then briefly interviewed one after the other, after which the current hit is played - usually in a form shortened to three minutes. With MusicStation there are some subcategories that are installed as separate segments in the broadcast. For most of the recordings, the guests and their reactions are alternately displayed in a small box, as is usual on Japanese television. The individual categories are not regularly represented in the program (except for the single charts).

- Music Topics - MTopi for short ( Japanese M ト ピ ) - news from the Japanese music scene
- Special Talk - A newcomer ( musician or actor ) talks about a current project, with the audience asking questions
- Mini Music Station - included since October 2002; a 2-minute clip before the broadcast (separated by an advertising block), in which one or two guests are spoken to shortly beforehand
- Music Station Young Guns - since 2005; Special introduction to newcomers (including e.g. Angela Aki ) who appear at MSta for the first time, with music-video-presentations etc.
Special offers
TV Asahi shows "Music Station Specials" several times a year, which last between two and three hours. Topics such as the "100 best love songs" or the "100 best summer hits" are dealt with, as we know it from German television. In addition, guests will once again present their current hits or songs that are included in the ranking of the special.

Super live
Since 1992, Music Station has been organizing a live concert at the end of December each year with performances by between 20 and 40 guests as a Christmas and end-of-year party. In the talk, the guests are often asked how their year went and what they want for the next year. Since 2003 "Super Live" has lasted four hours (previously three hours). The previous guest record is 43 artists and was set up at the "Super Live" in 2006.
