history

The school was founded in 1991 by the Regensburg teacher and guitarist Josef Meier under its name, which still exists today, and was initially a teaching program for aspiring professional musicians. In 1996 it became an independent school, which was the first private vocational school for pop, rock and jazz to be officially approved and recognized by the state in 2000. From 1996 to 1998 the school was in downtown Regensburg. Since the beginning of the 1998/99 school year, the school has been located in a locomotive shed renovated by Oswald Zitzelsberger in the immediate vicinity of the train station. With the new and larger rooms, the number of students also grew from 25–30 at the beginning to 45–50 today.

State-certified ensemble leader / state-certified choir director

After two years, the successful completion of the final exam results in the qualification of “state-certified ensemble leader in the field of rock-pop-jazz”. The training in singing as a major also leads to the qualification as a "state-certified choir director".

Additional educational qualification

In an additional third year, the “pedagogical build-up year”, graduates can take an additional pedagogical examination which entitles them to teach in the lower and middle grades of singing and music schools. Those who have completed the two-year training with an overall grade of at least 2.5, have received the certificate grade "good" or better in the main subject and are at least 23 years old when joining the program are accepted into the advanced year.

Specialist teacher for music and communication technology

In addition, the two-year course at the vocational school opens the way to specialist teacher training, which lasts four years. The qualification from the vocational school is counted as the first training phase. This course is offered at the State Institute Ansbach and entitles you to work as a specialist teacher (e.g. music and communication) at elementary and secondary schools, at special schools and at secondary schools.

The training program includes an all-round offer for aspiring professional musicians and instrumental teachers.
