Scotty Gottwald

Michael "Scotty" Gottwald (* around 1960) is a German jazz musician ( drums , percussion ).

Gottwald, who has been active in many jazz formations of various styles since 1975, studied until his diploma in the main subject percussion instruments / jazz at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . Together with Uli Rennert he belonged to Erich Bachträgl's group Positive ( Gollum 1981); then he played with Karuna, Four Wheel Drive as well as the Berndt Luef Trio and the Trio of Renato Chico.

Gottwald was a long-time member of the quartet of Helmut Nieberle and the Cordes Sauvages , with whom he played at numerous European jazz festivals and with whom he created several albums. He also toured with Jim Mullens Thumbstroke , Martin Taylor / Jermaine Landsberger ( Gypsy Journey 2003), Enrico de Paruta , Jörg Seidel , the Bavarian Jazz Cats feat. Beverly Daley, Flexible Friends and Swing for Kids . He can also be heard on albums by Steffi Denk, Bob Rückerl, Groove Brothers , Characters & Annette Frank. He was also involved in various theater and musical productions in southern Germany. He also teaches at the singing and music school of the city of Regensburg and at the vocational school for music Music College in Regensburg.
