Jörg Seidel

Jörg Seidel (* 1967 in Bremerhaven ) is a German jazz guitarist and singer who refers to Django Reinhardt in his musical roots .

Through early contacts with German Sinti and Roma , Seidel took over their musical style and played, among other things, in the quintet of the Heidelberg Sinti violinist Wendeli Köhler for five years. After this phase he opened up bebop and the jazz of the West Coast musicians and founded the Jörg Seidel Swing Trio together with pianist Joe Dinkelbach and bassist Gerold Donker , which works with various guests - including Bill Ramsey , Ron Williams , Greetje Kauffeld , Ines Reiger and Silvia Droste . In his European Swing Trio he plays with Hajo Hoffmann and Jean-Louis Rassinfosse . He has also worked with Erich Kleinschuster in Austria . He also founded the Gipsy Jazz Connexion , which includes Hajo Hoffmann, the two jazz violinists Max Grosch and Jörg Widmoser and the bassist Jean-Louis Rassinfosse. He also appears with Scotty Gottwald .

In addition to his work as an active musician, Seidel also worked as a lecturer at the University of the Arts in Bremen , where he taught electric guitar . As a lecturer for jazz singing, he has been teaching for the Lower Austrian Jazz Academy in Zeillern Abbey since 2000 .

Seidel runs his own label called Swingland Records .
