Frank Delle

Frank Delle (* 1966 in Bremerhaven ) is a German jazz musician ( tenor and baritone saxophone , also clarinets and flutes ).

Live and act

Delle took an early interest in music and did an apprenticeship as a music dealer . He worked in a music business for more than ten years and only began to play the saxophone during this time. After receiving a scholarship to the MacPhail Center for the Arts in Minneapolis in 1986 , he became interested in studying music. After studying music at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , which he completed in 1992, he became a professional musician. In 1996 he was awarded the Bremerhaven City Prize for Culture.

Delle has been a member of the NDR Bigband since 2001 , initially as a baritone saxophonist and since 2016 as a tenor saxophonist. There were musical projects and concerts there, for example with Maria Schneider , Joe Sample , Al Jarreau , Norma Winstone , Michael Gibbs , Wayne Shorter , Gebhard Ullmann , George Gruntz / Peter O. Chotjewitz , Stefano Bollani , Nils Wogram , Dave Holland and Dave Douglas , some of which are also documented on albums. In addition, he leads his own bands, with which albums have also been created, but was also part of Inga Rumpf's band , the quintet of Martin Wind / Buggy Braune and the quartet of Giorgi Kiknadze . He can also be heard on albums by Clark Terry , Cynthia Utterbach, Bob Brookmeyer / Ed Partyka , Romy Camerun and Olaf Stötzler.
