Sean Jones (born May 29, 1978 in Warren , Ohio ) is an American jazz trumpeter .

Live and act

Jones grew up in northeast Ohio; there he was the artistic director of both the Pittsburgh and the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra. He first studied at Youngstown State University in Ohio up to a bachelor's degree before doing his master's degree at Rutgers University . His playing is influenced by Clifford Brown , Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw .

After moving to New York City, he worked as a solo trumpeter in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra from the end of the 2000s, also with Joe Lovano , Jimmy Heath , Marcus Miller , Ron Blake , Ralph Bowen , Ted Nash , Steve Turre , Gerald Wilson and in his own band projects. In the field of jazz, he was involved in 65 recording sessions between 1997 and 2019, according to Tom Lord . Jones is a professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
