Calvaire, who has Haitian roots, earned both Bachelor's (2003) and Master's (2005) degrees from the Manhattan School of Music . Since then he has worked a. a. with Wynton Marsalis , Seal , Eddie Palmieri , Mark Murphy , David Foster , Mary J. Blige , Stefon Harris , Kurt Rosenwinkel , Nellie McKay , Yellowjackets , Joshua Redman , Steve Turre and Lorenz Kellhuber . He also played in the Village Vanguard Orchestra, Metropole Orkest , in theMingus Big Band , in the SFJazz Collective and in the big bands of Roy Hargrove and Bob Mintzer . In the field of jazz he was involved in 30 recording sessions between 2001 and 2013, in addition to the aforementioned with Monty Alexander , Richard Bona , Sean Jones , Eli Degibri , Etienne Charles , Linda Oh , David Kikoski , David Liebman , Zach Brock and the Clayton Brothers . In 2019 he is a member of the John Ellis Quartet.
