The Etmißl music association is a music band in Etmißl in Styria .

history

The beginnings of the band lie in private meetings of musical amateurs, which can be traced back to the year 1905 according to records from log books. There have already been appearances at the local volunteer fire department . During the First World War , activities ceased.

The association was founded on February 1, 1920. The development of the newly founded music association was systematically advanced by the band masters Alexander Illmaier and Roland Schmidt, as well as by the chairmen Ferdinand Ziegler and Heinrich Edlinger. The music rehearsals were held in various farmhouses, the public appearances fell mainly at club-owned events , church celebrations, events of the fire brigade, the comradeship association and at funerals . During the Second World War , the life of the association ceased again and was reactivated from 1951 under the Kapellmeisters Michael Treitler and Friedrich Schwaiger as well as chairman Heinrich Edlinger. In the same year the music association moved into a rehearsal room in the attic of the fire station of the volunteer fire brigade, uniform clothing has been in existence since 1953.

Kapellmeister Edlinger studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Graz. New musical instruments could be procured through donations, collections and instrument sponsorships. In 1985, the band celebrated its 80th anniversary with a three-day festival, to which 12 bands from the Bruck brass band congratulated with their presence. With the support of the Province of Styria and the municipality of Etmißl, a new fire station and rehearsal facility was built in 1986-90.

For the 100th anniversary, a CD was recorded again under Kapellmeister Wider by the club, which has now grown to 36 active musicians . It contains parts of a live recording of the anniversary concert in spring 2005. With the festive event in July 2005, the music association celebrated its anniversary with the participation of the population and befriended music bands.
