history

Loop-Verlag was founded in 1997 by Bernhard Ott, Claude Schwarz, Reto Baumann and Thierry Frochaux. The first editorial team consisted of Reto Baumann, Stephan Ramming and Judith Wyler.

After the bankruptcy of the DAZ (formerly Volksrecht ) the Loop-Verlag was able to buy their office and technical infrastructure. Reto Baumann and Thierry Frochaux had been in charge of the DAZ's music supplement “MusikSpezial” since the beginning of 1996 , which, like Loop , had been printed by Rotaz in Schaffhausen.

After a zero number in December 1997, the newspaper appeared ten times in broadsheet format from the end of January 1998 with a circulation of 25,000 copies. Atelier Villotti developed the layout and the logo that is still used today. Initially, however, commercial expectations were not fulfilled. Bernhard Ott and Rotaz AG then took over the shares of the other founders at the end of 1998, and the majority of Loop's circulation has since appeared as a supplement to the left-wing weekly newspaper PS, which has been published since February 1999. Thierry Frochaux is responsible for cultural reporting and prepress for both titles.

In 1999, Reto Baumann retired from the editorial office and handed over editorial responsibility to Philippe Amrein. In 2010 Benedikt Sartorius joined the editorial team. Manfred Müller has been in charge of administration (advertisements, subscriptions) since 2003. In 2016, Bernhard Ott also took over the remaining shares in the liquidated Rotaz AG.
