Mustafa Birden

Mustafa Birden (born June 1, 1946 in Kırıkkale ) is a Turkish lawyer and has been President of the State Council since 2008 .

career

Birden graduated from Ankara University in 1968 with a law degree . While he was working as a rapporteur at the "Association for Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Industry" ( Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi Kurumu , MKEK), he was appointed on May 31, 1971 as an assistant at the Turkish State Council.

This was followed by the presidency of the administrative courts in Istanbul and Ankara . On December 21, 1994 he was elected a member of the State Council and was also a full member of the conflict of jurisdiction court . On March 7, 2002 he was elected President of the Second Chamber of the State Council and on May 28, 2008 he was elected President of the State Council.

On May 17, 2006, attorney Alparslan Arslan shot five judges in the courtroom of the second chamber. The first shot Arslan fired hit Mustafa Birden. The liver and spleen were injured, but the operation was successful. It turned out that Birden had received death threats beforehand.

Private

Birden is married and has two children.
