show home

A model house is a house that serves as a model for other houses of the same type . In order to get a real picture of a house, model houses are often made for potential customers. These are open to visitors for viewing. Construction, materials, room arrangement and other important details can be viewed here before making a purchase. A model home is designed to provide confidence and incentives in a new home for sale.

Historical

The first model houses came up with the industrialized and prefabricated construction of houses in the 1920s. Some of the first model houses were the Haus am Horn (1923) designed by Georg Muche in Weimar , the model house by Lux Guyers from 1928 in Bern (CH) and the copper house model houses of the Hirsch Kupfer- und Messingwerke (HKM) in Eberswalde from 1929. Also the master houses built by Walter Gropius in Dessau in the 1920s were considered model houses. However, the first prefabricated houses go back to 1900.
