Courageously ahead

Muthig Voran is a Schnellpolka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 432). The work was performed for the first time on February 26, 1888 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein under the direction of Eduard Strauss .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the unsuccessful operetta Simplicius . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 427 , 428 , 429 , 430 , and 431 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. This also includes the Old German Waltz , which was published without an opus number . The work was subsequently played by some military bands. But it was never one of the composer's great successes, even if, in contrast to the operetta on which it was based, it lasted a little longer and is occasionally still played today.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 13 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
