As a public corporation, Switzerland Tourism promotes the demand for tourism “for Switzerland as a holiday, travel and congress destination ” at home and abroad in accordance with the federal mandate of December 16, 1994 . To this end, the organization is developing a marketing program and working with its partners to ensure that the advertising and sales measures are implemented. The main task is the development of high quality marketing programs to stimulate demand and the implementation of these programs on international markets.
These basic activities include the website www.MySwitzerland.com, which currently receives around 5% of the total budget. The most important requirements from the ST basic mandate for the Internet presence are:
- Establishment and operation of a Switzerland portal for the destination Switzerland as a global distribution channel for information with market-specific offers for over 30 markets.
- Partners can be found quickly thanks to the open site structure and simple navigation.
- Integration and dissemination of the data from tourism providers and service providers via powerful data networking.
- Creation of URLs that lead directly to the tourism partners, their offers and the booking.
- Dissemination of news from destinations and service providers.
- Opening of further channels via the Internet by concluding cooperation agreements with potent distribution partners worldwide.
ST is also a major shareholder in Switzerland Travel Center AG, Switzerland's national travel agency (33%). Another subsidiary is the company e-domizil AG, a broker of holiday apartments ( additional hotels ). This company belongs to the Frankfurt e-domizil group.
